FBLA Membership
Membership in FBLA is open to any student interested in learning more about business or developing skills for success in the work world. The opportunities offered through FBLA do not only begin or end with business. People interested in eventually entering the workforce or possibly even developing their own business will benefit from membership in FBLA.
To become a member, students simply need to attend one of our many informational meetings. There are membership dues, which are $20 per year. This pays for a student's membership and provides them access to all FBLA information, study materials and web based support. In addition, they are also able to list this membership on college applications and resumes. Typically once a student joins FBLA, they tend to get involved with the local chapter.
Students wishing to participate in the National Fall Leadership Conference, Regional Competition, State Leadership Conference, or National Leadership Conference must be paid members of FBLA. The more a student puts in to FBLA and participates, the more s/he gets out of the experience. There are several opportunities to develop leadership skills and practice them, each opportunity involves different levels of time commitment to the organization.
Since many of our activities have some cost associated with them, and since our funding is very limited we do have a number of fundraisers that we do throughout the year. All fundraisers are student organized and lead. This provides an opportunity for students to understand what businesses go through in attempting to make profit for their shareholders. In our case, the students are the shareholders and benefit directly from their work to raise funds. All funds raised by NOSD FBLA stay in our chapter and go directly to covering our students' costs for participating in events like the National Fall Leadership Conference, competitive events and scholarship opportunities.
